A HOUSE AND A COURTYARD
a small single-storey urban dwelling designed for a couple and their antique cars. an inner garden frames the view of the preserved trees. from the outside, the house is presented as a closed and austere block and from the courtyard it turns into transparent facades. the dark aesthetic and the garden itself involves the project as a connection with the surrounding landscape.

a manifestation of duality expressed by the constant superposition of contrasts: instability and equilibrium, the contemporary and the historical, the wall that limits and circle that receives, the space that is both interior and exterior, the open and the closed. signalizes, at the same time, the weight and lightness present in the current moment.

in order to learn with construction, with the common, with the local, the possible interactions between contemporary architecture and traditional practices of wood construction are investigated, recognizing the presence of vernacular construction techniques and a labour with significant practical knowledge in woodworking.

AN ARCHITECTURE AND ALSO A LANDMARK
the project approach deals with the context that connects and identifies our landscape; its infinite fields, endless countrysides and endless sky. the observatory is a temporary wood pavilion that establishes a unique connection with the place. an upper level looks to the surrounding views and up to the stars sheltered by a translucent veil.

SPECIFIC NATURAL CONTEXT
the house construction challenge is to minimize interference in the natural landscape. the restricted area of the triangular corner lot, its 8 meters vertical slope as well as the dense surrounding vegetation, have determined and guided the whole design process. the metallic structure provides the volume with occasional supporting elements and allows the cantilever of the upper floor, which defines the house access, while also maintaining the site original topography and preserving the preexisting vegetation.

besides the urban challenge of intervening in the são paulo historical city center the project deals with an existing office building and a vertical library program. the cuts and openings proposed in the section allows the connection between the different levels and better lighting for the interior areas enhancing the visitors experience throughout the building.

a weekend home, a small retreat amidst of vast rural fields, the articulated volume exploits the landscape views in addition to proposing studies regarding minimum dwelling and to exploring wood both as construction material and as constructive technique.

INTERVENTION IN A MODERN HOUSE
the intervention in this house, built in porto alegre back in 1968, aims to restore the quality of the original project through few operations, solely adapting the residence to its new owners. through the redesign of the original windows and the introduction of zenithal openings, the project has focused upon expanding the connection of the house with its surroundings as well as increasing the luminosity of the internal spaces.

the proposal expands the house area, adding new bedrooms as well as living and leisure spaces integrated to the outdoor area and the pool. this expansion is connected to the internal courtyard through large wooden windows and corten steel closing panels.

TRAVESSIAS
UNDERNEATH THE OVERPASS
an urban crossing, a pedestrian underpass through the residual areas of the east-west expressway in belo horizonte. the intervention aims to overpass the physical barriers originated by the juxtaposition of avenues, a stream and a railway line, providing accessible routes for pedestrians and cyclists and offering a route experience that is closer to the human scale.
